Nail Care
When it comes to taking care of your nails, manicures are not always the only and best thing to do for them. As a nail artist, I’ve come across several clients who only get by with a manicure every so often. But nail care starts with you and in the home. Below, I will point out several easy-to-do tricks at home using most of your very own items you might have in your own pantry. Nail care starts with you!
Tips for taking care of your nails.
Moisturize your nails and hands
Stop biting your nails and dead tissue
Use oil on your cuticle once a day
Tame your cuticles
Do not peel your polish
Moisturizing Your Nails and Hands
We often tend to forget this part because we get busy washing them and forget that our hands after washing need moisturizing. I often find myself avoiding this vital part, especially at home when we have a million of other essential things to do than worry about moisturizing our hands. During the colder seasons, it is even more critical to moisturize our hands to prevent dryness, cracking, and hard skin that tends to develop during this particular time.
An easy way to remember to moisturize those beautiful hands is by having a couple of lotion bottles close to the areas we tend to wash our hands. I also like to include a small one in my purse and my car. That way you don't have to worry about not having one near you.
Stop Biting Your Nails and Dead Tissue
I know for many of us, this could be a tough one to accomplish, especially when they are dry and flaky. When we get a little nervous or a bit anxious about something a natural habit for us is to take our finger to our mouth and nibble off dead tissue or even the nail! Sometimes a good reminder of what is actually lurking on those fingers helps us remember just how dirty our nails and fingers can be. We have filthy hands at all times, even when we wash we often carry dirt inside the nail, so think about it twice before you do it. If we want to grow beautiful and healthy nails, then we need to think twice and stop biting our nails. When we bite off skin, cuticles, and nails, we don’t allow them to grow and look beautiful so find another bad habit and leave those pretty’s alone!
Use an Oil on Your Cuticles Once a Day
This comes naturally to me because it is part of my nighttime routine. Wherever you're at, put this routine in; do it once a day. No more no less. Flooding the cuticles isn’t a good thing either because it causes lift on the polish of you to have to polish on and causes them to weaken because there is too much moisture. Balance is everything with anything. Cuticle oil helps with the dryness that we tend to get around the nail so putting a little cuticle oil not only will help with dryness and help with less of having the urge to bite the skin off and healthier nails. For the win!!
Tame Your Cuticles
Taming your cuticles doesn’t always mean what we think. We don’t have to trim flesh off we just have to make sure we
are pushing back our cuticles. I like purchasing a cuticle
pusher from your closest beauty supply store or even on Amazon.
